Everything you need to know about Baby Skin Care
|
|
Common Baby Skin Blemish - Dry Skin Dry skin often hereditary and sometimes
associated with eczema. The skin is tough, dry and scaly. Avoid
soaps that will dry your baby's skin. Use baby oil, or lotions
after a bath, to leave the skin soft. Common Baby Skin Blemish - Cheek Rashes
Cheek rashes are red and
dry. They are more common in infants with eczema. The rash may be
caused by contact with constant moisture, i.e. dribbling onto a pillow.
You can help your baby avoid them by keeping her skin dry
and clean with a gentle cleanser, and using a lotion or cream to soften
and moisturize her skin. Common Baby Skin Blemish - Milia
This appears as white pin head spots found mostly
around the bridge of the baby’s nose, and is caused by overactive
sebaceous glands. Almost all new babies have these. No treatment is
required. They will disappear within 4-6 weeks of birth. Common Baby Skin Blemish - Cradle Cap
A build up of natural oils and dry scaly skin can form a yellow brown crust on your baby's head. This is known as cradle cap. The remove the crusts, massage the top of your baby's head with warm baby oil. Leave for a couple of hours (or overnight). Comb your baby's head back away from her face to dislodge the crusts, then shampoo. Regular shampooing accompanied by a massage may help prevent cradle cap from recurring.
